2021 Fall Fashion Wishlist

HAPPY SEPTEMBER YOU COZY RASCALS! Ahh, it’s finally fall (in my book at least). I know the official start date of fall isn’t until September 22nd, but as soon as it hits September 1, I enter fall mode… Who am I kidding, fall mode usually kicks in around the end of July, I just don’t act on it til’ September 1st. WHO’S WITH ME?

Every year I like to round up a few items that I have my eye on for the upcoming fall season. It’s fun looking back and seeing how my style changes over the years. This was last years wish list, and I still have (and love) almost everything on it.

This year I’m feeling the neutrals and blacks. The older I get, the more I want my outfits to be simple yet impactful. I want equal parts chicness and comfort. And dammit, I want to rock a beret like some moody, coffee loving, art making Parisian and no one’s going to stop me!

So here we have it, my 2021 Fall Fashion Wishlist:

no.1 | no.2 | no.3 | no.4 | no.5 | no.6 | no.7 | no.8

no.1 – Ribbed Knit Midi Skirt (link)
no.2 – All Black “Nevada” Sunglasses (link)
no.3 – Black “Sophie” Beret (link)
no.4 – Long Taupe Cardigan (link)
no.5 – Black Faux Suede “Maura” Mules (link)
no.6 – Beige Oversized Quilted Shirt Jacket (link)
no.7 – Black Pointed Toe “Sylvie” Ankle Boot (link)
no.8 – Vintage Slim High Ankle Jeans (link)

A few of these items are sold out. But I feel like they’re worth getting on the waiting list for. I already have the quilted shirt jacket and the Sylvie ankle booties and I absolutely adore them both, and most importantly, plan to wear them for seasons to come!

This year I went for chic, neutral, minimal, and most importantly, cozy! And as you can see – I didn’t add any turtlenecks to my wish list because I HAVE OVER 10 GUYS. EXCESSIVE. Or is there a such thing?

I hope you got some inspo from this post, you can also find tons of fall outfit inspiration on my Pinterest board below. Pinterest has been my go-to for outfit inspiration for over 10 years, and that platform just keeps getting better and better.

I hope you have the most stylish, cozy, beautiful fall. And if you get anything from the list, please tag me on Facebook and/or Instagram so I can see it!

2020 Fall Fashion Wishlist

Every year in late August and early September I try to map out some pieces I want for the upcoming fall season. I do this because every year without fail, the stores run out of everything I want a week after the weather turns.

Who am I kidding, I also do it because of my crippling type-A-need to plan and micromanage everything in my life. Oops. At least it pays off in this situation, right?

Enough about my issues, here is my Fall Fashion Wishlist, with links to everything at the bottom. ❤

HERE ARE THE LINKS TO ALL THESE GEMS:

Sherpa Lined Jean Jacket, Long Camel Teddy Coat, Oversized Cream Turtleneck

Statement Mules, Conductor Hat, Cat Eye Sunnies, Highrise Ripped Black Skinnies

I already have the conductor hat, and I ordered the mules, but everything else remains a “wish list” item!
What trends are you loving this fall? I’m so stoked that teddy material, leopard print, faux leather and chunky knits stuck around for another season. I wasn’t ready to give those up. Here’s where I get most my inspo from:

Low Maintenance Summer Style

It’s been a minute since I’ve talked about clothes. Over the past few months; life, connections, health and emotions have become much more important topics than discussing what I’m wearing. While my focus changed a bit, one thing remained the same: I still wanted to dress up. Looking put-together has always been important to me, because it boosts my self esteem and my mood. You can do both you know? Talk about important, serious things, and still prioritize good style.

This post is a little round up of the low maintenance summer outfits I’ve been loving. Yes I wear hats a lot, yes I only wear neutral colors, yes I wear sunglasses pretty much constantly if I’m outside (my bad eye is incredibly light-sensitive). These are all things that help me look put together without a ton of effort though, which explains why you see me in them so often:

Below you’ll find the links to all these outfits (just click the underlined words). ❤

  1. Textured Tank and Textured Top
Ribbed is in again, which I looove. Adding a texture like this to an outfit automatically adds interest, and is a refreshing play on the basic tee/tank.
  2. Round Sunnies
If you’ve been a BIG sunny lover your whole life like me, you MUST give small round sunnies a shot. They’re effortless, retro, and incredibly trendy.
  3. Comfortable Face Masks
If you’ve gotta wear them, make em cute. And comfortable. I LOVE these Kitsch masks because they’re light, comfortable, and they don’t muffle my voice when I talk.
3a. Olive Tunic is from Costco and I cannot recommend it enough it’s SO comfortable. Size down once.
  4. Flowy Button Up – Similar
Such a simple staple wardrobe piece that makes any outfit look put together. Plus, if you get too hot, just tie it around your waist.
  5. High Rise Jean Shorts
If you don’t own a pair of high rise jean shorts you. are. missing. out. Not sure why high waists ever went out of style but I think it’s back forever now which I love because it is: Comfortable, tucks in the belly pooch and looks cute as hell.
  6. Chic Easy Sandals
Everyone needs a pair of easy, chic sandals. Get them in a lighter or nude color to elongate your legs and make you look more tan!
  7. Statement Hat Ivory & Statement Hat Black
You guys know about my hat obsession by now, so you also know that I’m just gunna tell you to go for it. Put on that damn hat that you think you “can’t pull off” because you CAN! It hides dark roots/greasy hair, can make you look chic when you haven’t even gotten ready for the day, and you’ll get compliments pretty much everywhere you go.
  8. Shredded Skinnies
Something I wear year round that are perfect for a cooler summer day.

There you have it, my low maintenance summer style. You probably recognized a little trend throughout: comfortable, effortless, easy.

I really just wanted to round up these outfits to show that looking cute and put together doesn’t require a lot of effort. Just be mindful of what you’re buying, keeping these thoughts while making purchasing decisions:

– Will this transition into other seasons?
– If it wont transition into other seasons, is this something I know I’ll wear next summer?
– Am I comfortable enough in this to wear it regularly?
– Will I have to add obnoxious accessories to make this item wearable?
– Can I move around comfortably in this?
– Do I like this color enough to wear it frequently?

I hope you take advantage of these hot summer days for a little while longer, and get some cute outfits in for them. Because you know what’s next…. F A L L!

xoxo, Lo

Looks I’m Loving

Sooo it looks like we’re stuck at home for a bit. And while I’d like to wake up every morning, do my make up and hair, and put on a cute outfit… The reality of me staying in said cute outfit is about 0%.

I’m mostly living in sweats until this thing is over, but that gives me plenty of time and creative juices to dream and plan for the future.

Here are some LOOKS I’M LOVING;

No.1 A large structured blazer over something casual
Yes please. This is a look many people feel like they can’t pull off, but looks effortless and chic on everyone.

No.2 The perfect pair of mom jeans and linen top
This outfit is light, casual, yet somehow looks extremely put together. The perfect spring uniform.

No.3 Oversized corduroy jacket
HATE corduroy pants, LOVE a corduroy jacket, EXTRA love that corduroy is in right now. Make it oversized w/ accessories and a dainty tank underneath and it becomes a super cute statement piece.

No.4 A classic boyfriend button up, tucked all the way in
This look feels a little 80’s, which is perfect cause the 80’s are back, baby. Layer a few necklaces, and add a low pony w/ a wide brimmed hat.

No.5 Oversized Mock Neck with a Statement Bootie
Perfect for cool spring days. Or days where you’re feeling frumpy and don’t want to show any skin. High waisted jeans and a chunky, pointy toe bootie makes it chic.

No.6 Destroyed Denim with an Oversized Crewneck Sweatshirt
The perfect quarantine uniform if you’re sick of sweatpants like I am already. I personally don’t mind wearing jeans when I’m lounging at home, so add an oversized crewneck, a big hat, and a glass of wine, and you’ll feel like you’re having wine with the girls. Sans the girls.

Check out more looks I’m loving below, or here.

A Coffee Shop Shoot

When Meggan of Meggan Jessat Photography suggested we do a photo shoot, my first thought was “Ohhhhh! Coffee Shop!”. I’ve always wanted to do a photo shoot in a dimly lit coffee shop with great natural light and exposed brick. Que the little gem downtown Kalispell we call Colter Coffee.

We met up, “bright” and early on a Saturday morning. The weather was doing that dreary, depressing thing that I love so much. Meggan needed a little snack because she’s a busy AF, badass momma who has a lot of shit to do, okay? We sat by the window while she munched her delicious looking wrap, and we got to know each other a little better.

Then, all of the sudden, like it was just a natural thing that you do when you’re out with a friend…. She started taking my picture.

It was so easy. So natural. I just hung out, and she took my photo.
And that’s how you know you’ve found a good photographer.

Plus, I mean, come on….. look at these photos.

I seriously recommend Meggan for photos. Click here to check out her website, here to check her out on Facebook and here to see her Instagram!

She edits her photos so naturally, she’s bubbly and sweet, and she will NOT disappoint.

She’s going places, people!

Summer Style Inspo for Tank Top Haters

I have a confession; I hate tank tops. So much. There, I said it…
The freakin’ closet staple of summer makes me cringe.
I hate tank tops for two reasons;

  1. I have terrible skin. Acne, scars, easy bruising, eczema…. I don’t feel like showing that off (yes I know a lot of people have flaws like these, and I should just get over it and feel comfortable in my own sh*t skin, but I’m not there yet, okay?)
  2. Armpits… I don’t like armpits. I don’t want them just, out, you know? Free to the world, free for everyone to judge if I lift my arms and my deodorant decided to ball up or I forgot to shave my spider legs. I don’t neeeeed that in my liiiiife.

So summer is a struggle for me. In the style department, that is. Short sleeves are as close as I get, and I honestly don’t even love those. I rounded up some of my summer outfits that aren’t tank top based, and I think you’ll enjoy them even if you are one of those freaks that bears their shoulders.

Summer Closet Staples

I really like neutrals and simple staple pieces. Camel, black, white, olive & denim pretty much consume my closet.

I’m honestly really simple (and pretty dang lazy) when it comes to style, if I’m being honest. Throw on a wide brimmed hat or a trendy head scarf when you’re on day 5 of dry shampoo. Rock oversized sunnies all day when you don’t feel like putting mascara or brows on. Hide beneath a frumpy tshirt dress and a cross body bag when you’re too lazy to plan out a multiple piece outfit. Buy staple items that you know you’ll love to wear all the time – it makes life a lot easier.

There are tons of ways to avoid wearing tank tops, trust me. So if you’re anything like me, I hope these suggestions helped you a little bit. And just keep in mind, there’s only a month and a half until Fall. (;

Styling Adventure Themed Graphic Tees

We all love a good Graphic Tee, right? How about adventure / outdoor themed ones? Now, graphic tees aren’t necessarily my go-to. I’m pretty “plain” when it comes to my style choices; no neon’s, no bold patterns – mostly earth tones, black and denim.
But when it comes to adventure tees, no one does it like The Montana Scene (and I’m not just saying that because I work there).

I also know what some of you may be thinking “I’m just NOT a t-shirt type of person in general”, well FEAR NOT! I’m not either!
But that’s what’s great about The Montana Scene, it’s so much more than just t shirts.

Adorable feminine long sleeves, long and roomy tunics, trendy pullovers, adorable flowy tees, & good old fashioned super soft fleeces – you name it, they’ve got it… And you bet your sweet ass it’s got something cute printed on it.

So while “Graphic T’s” may not be everyone’s thing, it’s SO EASY to dress them up, accessorize them, and really just bring them from “t-shirt and jeans” to the employee at Chik-fil-A telling you how trendy you look! So here I am, eagerly waiting to show you how!

OFFICIAL HIPSTER UNIFORM – FLANNEL & A BEANIE :fe27fe401f2f1005c1118b95b17e0651

|  Beanie, Flannel & Jeans – Target |  Flowy T – The Montana Scene  |

A classic go-to. Any shirt can be adorably accessorized with a trendy flannel & a matching beanie. Bonus points if your nails match your outfit! Not a hipster? Not so into flannels? No worries, we’ve got other options.

MILITARY JACKET FOR THE WIN :IMG_2834 (2)

|  Jeans – Target  | Military Jacket – TJ Maxx (similar)Pullover – The Montana Scene  |

A classic and trendy MUST HAVE piece, the military jacket! I love this item so much. It’s a great closet staple that can be dressed up or down super easily. Layer it over this presh pullover, go get yourself a damn latte, & then explore! Don’t forget the aviators!

RIPPED JEANS & TUNICS & FLOPPY HATS – OH MY! :rsz_first_coffee_long_sleeve_tunic_1_of_1

|  Jeans & Floppy Hat – Target  |  Coffee & Explore Tunic – The Montana Scene |

My personal uniform ^. Ripped jeans haven’t gone out of style yet, so here I am – making one golden-ager at a time tell me “you need to buy some new pants”! (; I love tunics because they are so flowy and can be worn with jeans OR leggings. (I own this ^ one in pink & cement). And of course, the floppy hat, can’t live without it!

POCKET TEES & BOYFRIEND JEANS :113CROP

|  Boyfriend Jeans – Target  | Pocket T – The Montana Scene  |

One of my favorite twists on “jeans and a t-shirt” is swapping out plain ol’ jeans for a pair of boyfriend jeans. Throw on this adorable pocket tee & a pair of strappy sandals and you have yourself a beachy-casual outfit that’s not only comfy, but stylish too.

As you can tell (and as I’m sure you already know if you know me well) I am a huge fan of floppy hats.. Wide brimmed fedoras. Adventure hats.. Whatever you want to call them.
There’s only a few days out of the week you’ll catch me without one (day 1 & 2 after washing my hair – duh!)

Try out any of these styles next time you throw on a graphic tee! You won’t regret it. And if anyone ever tells you that you can’t style the hell out of a graphic tee, or a Montana T shirt, or anything for that matter – you show them otherwise!

Whether you’re rocking that athleisure wear, or getting glam, a Montana Scene shirt can absolutely be included. Not to toot my own horn, but come on, look how cute literally all of that stuff was.

Pluviophiles & Petrichor

Say It Dont Spray It

Don’t you find it odd that some people view rain as dreary and depressing, while others are completely enamored by it?

Nothing brings me more bliss than gazing out the window on a rainy day, listening to The Postal Service Radio on Pandora, and sipping on coffee or tea.
Cliche, I know… It’s just the place I’m most content.
Also, side note – Pluviophile is not a dictionary word, so don’t judge me..

While I’d love to lay around and stare out windows all day, I must be a productive member of society, meaning: pants.
Well, other clothes too. Cute ones! I think anyway..

While I would love to be an Urban Outfitters, Anthropology, Bloomingdale’s kind of girl… I am stuck being a TJ Maxx and Target girl for now.
Which, honestly, I’m not horribly upset about… Neither is my bank account.

I had to add a photo of my hot ass photographer, sorry babe.

Also, you know that intoxicating smell that fills the air when it’s raining? That’s called petrichor.
Some scientists believe that people inherited their affection for the scent of rain from ancestors who relied on rainy weather for their survival.
But mostly it’s a certain chemical that plants release when it rains, and a bacteria the ground produces when it gets wet. SCIENCE!

Anyway, while I didn’t get to spend my day vegging out and watching it drizzle, I did enjoy my short time spent time outside, taking pictures and laughing.

I hope you all had a really, really good 4/20.

And to all of you pluviophiles and petrichor lovers; keep praying for rain.
We need it & we love it.

First Coffee

One of my favorite things on this planet is coffee.
I know a lot of you can get on board with that.

It gets you through your mornings, soothes your soul, and fuels your adventures.
It’s delightful, world-renowned, and can be contrived in hundreds, possibly thousands of different ways. What’s not to love?
I would go as far as to say that I am passionate about coffee.

So when the amazing company I work for decided to do a new coffee themed shirt, I was like yaaaaaaas. I was super fortunate to get to come up with the concept for this design, then the wonderful Amanda from Wheelie Creative brought my idea to life, and voila!

Here it is, the magical-ness of coffee and adventure all in one beautifully comfortable cream sweater:
